ARTIST STATEMENT & BIOGRAPHY
Having a different vision of reality gives me a strong sense of self and self-esteem. I feel exhilarated while working, and I generally see and think of what I want to shoot pretty quickly. What has been presented in classes always is imprinted on my brain. I have studied the classical photographers, such as Ansel Adams, for years, and yet, I always learn something new. I am very grateful for the opportunities that APP has given to me throughout the years.
I was born in Columbus, Ohio, and currently reside in Athens. My interest in photography began when I was a young girl, when I watched my father make photographs. Teachers encouraged me to create art throughout life. I received two years of bachelor-level education in the department of photography and cinematography at Ohio State University. I have photographed weddings and portraiture on a professional level for several years. APP founder Elise Sanford encouraged me to join the APP in 2001, where I participated in classes for two years. I returned to the APP in 2008, and have since been active in exhibitions, advanced-level classes, the former gallery, and mentoring.
