ARTIST STATEMENT & BIOGRAPHY
I was born in 1951 in Elkhart, Indiana, and now live in Athens, Ohio. I attended Ohio University, focusing on stage design and theater technology, and earned my B.A. degree in general studies in 1976. I have been a prominent member of the APP since 2000, and served as a class mentor for several years. My photographs have been included in thirteen juried exhibitions. I received an Ohio Arts Council individual artist grant in 2007; was awarded “Best of Show” in the 2009 VSA Ohio exhibition; and received the Rita Gillick Mental Health Advocate Award. My photographic process is inspired by humanism as well as elements of the scientific method: ob¬serving, experimenting, recording, and analyzing results. My major subjects include portraits and self-portraits, architecture, and musings on daily life.
