ARTIST STATEMENT & BIOGRAPHY
Humanity is beautiful yet complex. I always search for the not-so-clear boundaries between the two. It is curious how art lends its self so well to expressing these things with grace and clarity.
I was born and raised outside New York City, and came to Athens in 1990 to visit a friend. I never left. I love the small-town life that the area offers. I graduated with a B.A. degree in English from New Rochelle College in 1985, and began working in the mental health field in 1990. I continued to provide support services while struggling and fighting my own depression.
These experiences have brought me knowledge and compassion. I have a longstanding interest in art and poetry. I was excited to have the opportunity to join the APP in January 2012. I have focused on becoming more disciplined and versatile in my photography, and now hope to grow as an artist by becoming more technically proficient. I wish to engage the imagination of those viewing my work, and to leave a lasting impression. I am grateful for my teachers’ patience and dedication.
