ARTIST STATEMENT & BIOGRAPHY
My grandbabies are the best part of my artwork. Collaborating with my grandson is a big part of why I am still taking photos. By photographing my grandbabies, I am keeping them young forever. I am inspired in my work by my fellow APP artists, including Sandy Frazier. A photo she took of her mother reminded me of a better time and safer place.
I was born and raised near Glouster, Ohio, and have lived in Athens County all of my life with my family and, now, my grandchildren. I graduated from Glouster High School in 1978, studied food service at Tri-County Joint Vocational School, and worked as a cashier and stockperson at Odd Lots. I had some experience with photography, and, at the recommendation of my counselor, joined the Athens Photographic Project in the fall of 2013. I love all of my classmates. Art provides an opportunity for me to express myself and share with others how the world looks and feels to me.
